Public Health – Junior Associate
New York City

The Position:
Bloomberg Philanthropies seeks a Junior Associate to primarily support the Program Manager for the Obesity Prevention program and other Program Managers who work in Tobacco Control. H/she will provide program management support, high level administrative support, research and analysis. Strong written and oral communications, attention to detail, flexibility/availability and project management skills are a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Provide day to day support to the Program Manager(s) with administrative functions including scheduling, travel & itineraries and expense reimbursement
-Serve as key liaison between Program Manager(s) and key internal and external partners, institutions and other stakeholders
-Prepare written materials, including one-pagers, memos and presentation slides

-Draft weekly program highlights and communication updates with strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
-Liaise with Events Team to plan and execute large (100+) partner meetings and events

-Research and prepare briefings, memos, presentation materials, reports and analysis for partner interactions, board meetings, internal and external stakeholder meetings
-Synthesize academic and gray literature in public health program areas to keep Program Managers up to date on the latest public health findings and outcomes
-Conduct desk research and synthesize information on various public health topics by researching best practices surrounding existing program areas
-Review and analyze existing program content in order to interface with internal and external public health staff and contribute to the development of new ideas in existing programs and new program focus areas

Communication & Program Management
-Coordinate and communicate with partners and other external stakeholders on periodic reports, project progress, monitoring and evaluation, proactively reaching out and following up as necessary
-Monitor and follow up with partners on any unexpected report items or deviation from expected deliverables
-Prepare and present Public Health program managers with updates and follow up communications
-Support and monitor existing grants and track progress by liaising between internal and external stakeholders

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:
-Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in global public health or similar field; or Masters of Public Health with a minimum of 2 years of work experience post-degree in global public health 
-Demonstrated programmatic work experience in Global Public Health 
-Experience with obesity prevention & nutrition and /or tobacco control a strong plus  
-Comfort in research study methodologies and epidemiology a strong plus
-Fluency in Spanish highly preferred 
-Experience working within partnerships in diverse settings
-Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
-Ability to manage multiple demands and project timelines simultaneously 
-Extreme attention to detail
-Willingness to travel up 25% of the year
